2021.12.01 15:26 summertimechi608 False Positive COVID test results from RA?

Has anyone else with rheumatoid arthritis or other chronic inflammatory conditions experienced multiple false positives when they take COVID rapid antigen tests?
TL;DR I suspect my RA and high rheumatoid factor has caused me to have multiple false positive Covid test results. Am I the only weirdo this happens to?
As background, I was diagnosed with RA two years ago. At the time, my rheumatoid factor was pretty high: 222 IU/mL (normal is 0-14). I was put on 15mg/week dose of MTX.
In November 2020, after being on meds for a year with great results and no pain, I took a rapid antigen test by Becton Dickinson and tested positive. I had no symptoms and no known exposure. A PCR taken the same day came back negative 2 days later. I took the same rapid test again on the day I got the negative PCR result, just to see if it had been a weird one-off, but it still came back positive. I found an article saying that the BD test had been banned for awhile in AZ nursing homes because it was giving so many false positives, so I figured the brand of test just sucked.
I took a few non-BD brand rapid tests in the months after the false positive. All came back negative. In May 2021, I begrudgingly took the BD brand rapid antigen test again at a clinic. Came back positive. I went to another clinic the same day where a different brand rapid antigen came back negative. I googled and found that the BD test materials say “Based on in vitro testing, false positive results cannot be ruled out if patients with rheumatoid factor higher than 12.5 IU/mL in nasal fluid, although it is unclear if such concentrations are clinically relevant.” I figured I must just still have high RF and that threw the BD test off and vowed never to take another BD test.
Fast forward to September 2021, my job begins weekly rapid antigen testing (non-BD brand). After a few weeks of negatives, I had run out of methotrexate and was in a bit of pain one morning when my rapid came back positive. Again, I had no COVID symptoms and a same-day PCR came back negative. I found a couple articles discussing high incidences of false positives in patients with chronic inflammatory conditions. I figured the fact that I wasn’t on my MTX made it worse. But today, after a possible exposure, I figured I’d risk another non-BD rapid antigen test since I’m back on my meds and painless, and voila, a positive rapid (on a brand I’ve gotten negatives from before), followed by a negative PCR.
I know, I know - I need to just stop taking the damn rapid antigen tests, but it’s just so strange to me that I’ve had this happen so often yet every time it does and I explain to the medical personnel that this happens to me often, they look flabbergasted. Even my rheumatologist seemed surprised. It makes me worry that I’ve got something else going on, since other RA patients don’t seem to be having this issue in large enough numbers for people to be aware of it. Has anyone else experienced or heard of anyone experiencing this? Or am I just an unlucky weirdo doomed to 48 hr Covid test waits and/or ultra expensive rapid PCRs?

2021.12.01 15:26 JuX6034 Can it be stable angina?

22 years old, male. Keep having chest pains in upper right chest somewhat close to the collarbone and in the upper right abdomen close to the heart. Worried this might be stable angina since sometimes it comes from exertion. I have already gone to a cardiologist and did multiple tests that came out fine, but none of them were related with coronary artery disease since obviously no doctor will do those tests on a 22 years old patient if all other tests were negative. I asked my cardiologist about my chest pains but was told it's unlikely to be related to heart and wouldn't worry. I've been told multiple times that it's pretty rare for someone my age to develop stable angina, but my mind still rejects to put me at ease for this issue due to my extraordinary lifestyle in the past. Should I ask my doctor to do a CT calcium score or am being too irrational?

2021.12.01 15:26 Justanotherperson257 The urge is strong

I can feel it, so that is why I am writing here. The feeling tells me to have a look, just see what's new. Let's call it the snake. I am trying to think if it's in my head or my body. Its in my body. The sensation is in my body and it is affecting my brain. It's trying to think about what to do to please the sensation. I can do two things. Distract the sensation by doing something that stimulates my other senses or use my head. I know where this has gone in the past, my mind is not strong enough right now because I have conditioned myself to go along with the feeling. So, I have the stimulate my other senses and that's what I will do. I will get up from the couch and do something so the feeling leaves. The snake won't get to me. I won't fight with the snake. I will turn away from it and do what I know is right in my heart.

2021.12.01 15:26 AIvsWorld It isn’t a flex to be in the top 0.001% of an artist’s audience

In the endless amount of Spotify Wrapped posts I’ve seen recently, I’ve noticed a lot of people “flexing” the fact that they were in the top 0.1, 0.01, or even 0.001 percentiles of an artist’s audience. In order to be in such an elite group, many of these people spent tens of thousands of minutes listening to a single artist. Usually the only way this happens is if the person exclusively or almost-exclusively listens to the same handful of songs/albums from that one artist every single day.
Now, I’m not trying to tell people how to enjoy music. Do whatever makes you happy. If someone really truly enjoys listening to the exact same artist over and over again for hundreds of hours then more power to them. But it isn’t a flex. It isn’t impressive. It isn’t cool. All it says about them is that they have a limited taste and are likely missing out on a ton of great music because they refuse to branch out. Plus, more often than not, these sorts of people have a creepy parascoial relationship with the artist.
Of course, with all things, there are always exceptions. There are genuine reasons to be in the top percentiles of an artist’s audience. For example, I know somebody who wrote a graduate-level paper about a hip-hop artist and needed to listen to their discography many many times to properly analyze it. Another example would be if the artist is relatively small and you know them personally, in which case you're probably listening to them a lot to support them. But in almost all cases there is no such reason why the person is in the top 0.001% of the audience—they simply have not put in any effort to broaden their music taste.

2021.12.01 15:26 taylorlynngeek What's the most ridiculous/rude thing someone has said to you while pregnant?

I saw this post on a Facebook pregnancy support group that I'm in and figured I'd ask here.
What's the most ridiculous/rude/insensitive/etc. thing someone has said to you while pregnant?

My mother in law, over the weekend, told me, "once you have this baby, you won't have any friends. they'll stop coming around." Uh... what? I'm sorry your friends suck, but mine are stoked to have a baby around and I'm pretty sure they are more excited about this child than I am (which is super hard to believe).
